I’d guess! Many of you have never seen a hijab woman in a gym. Right? Of course! Well, I have. When many people see a woman in a hijab, they think they are oppressed or uneducated. Saman Munir, however, is changing the stereotypes. She is a hijab-wearing Islam woman working as a fitness expert, wellness coach, and online influencer. This is her story.
Saman Munir Age, Husband and Family
She was born on 30th May 1980. The 42-year-old currently lives with her husband, Faheem, and three children in Mississauga, Canada. Her original home is Pakistan but they relocated permanently to Canada. She is a staunch Muslim woman and believes in the Islam faith. Munir has never allowed occupation or job to limit her expression of her faith. When she switched to fitness, she went with her hijab.
In the Beginning
Saman was always a hard worker since childhood. As a teenager, she was often a victim of ridicule from her friends who thought she was fat. The criticism created a go-getter attitude in her. It made her love fitness. While in High School, she engaged in fitness to achieve her personal goals.
After graduating from college, Saman got employment as a quality control expert at an automotive and aerospace company. She quit the job in 2008 after getting her first child and started pursuing her passion for fashion and beauty. She created makeuphijabs on Instagram as a platform for practicing makeup for women and specifically for hijab-wearing women.
After having her third child at 37, Saman decided to join the gym. At first, she was focused on losing weight and attaining a specific body type. The perception changed when she understood physical exercise was a lifestyle rather than a goal-oriented initiative.
Saman started posting pictures and videos on Instagram after she was convinced by her husband. The videos went wild on the internet. She wowed many people, as they were unaware of hijab women engaging in physical exercise. In just 5 years, her Instagram has grown to more than 300k followers.
Success and Partnerships
She has also been an inspiration to Muslim and non-muslim women. Her active lifestyle has earned her partnerships with Under Amour, which sponsor her with workout Hijab, a fitness apparel she confessed was better than the traditional hijabs she wore before.
Saman is also the brand influencer of Rubicon. She joined a team of physically active women such as Yoga instructor Jen Landesberg at EvolveYou as a trainer and a brand ambassador for Women’s Best a Company selling women’s fitness apparel.

When asked about her Hijab, Saman stated that it is a symbol of strength, faith, and freedom. It gives her the liberty to express herself without compromising her beliefs. She gets the ability to perform better and focus on her training when she is wearing the hijab because she knows that is representing a larger group. She loves wearing it because it also shows the side of Muslim women unknown to the world.
Saman is an inspiration to women regardless of their religious affiliation. at the age of 42, She has shown that it is possible for a parent, career woman, and above 40 women to live an active lifestyle.
