Virginia started her first employment at the University of Regina as a Graduate Research Assistant. She assisted with carrying investigation for SSHRC Research Grant. Wright also collected and conducted research for specific investigations. In May 2015, she joined CTV as a video journalist responsible for editing, pitching, and writing news stories and footage. On many occasions, she produced CTV Morning Live News.
The organization quickly promoted her to web producer for Your Morning then as a writer and reporter for CTV Kitchener. In October, she became a video journalist for Kitchener and later she was transferred to CTV News Calgary, where she left after three years of employment. In May 2022, Wright announced her departure from CTV News to join PCL construction where she is a communication specialist.
