0 It is always inspiring to see a young man who has worked his way to live the dream he had since childhood. In this article, we are going to cover the story of Wanya Reese. If you are a fan of news, you have probably met him reporting or on the anchor desk. Reese currently works for 13WMAZ Morning as a morning news anchor. We did a background check on him and this is what we found.
He is a South Carolina native raised by a single mother. He was born on 14th March 1995. The 27-year-old learned the value of working hard from watching his mother working to provide for her family. Now a grown-up man, Wanya desires to live a life different from his childhood. Over the last two years, he has been in a relationship with former journalist/reporter Amber Joseph. The two will be having their wedding on 21st January 2023. From then, they will be an official couple.
The desire to become a journalist started when he was a young man. It became a solid dream when he was a student at Virginia Commonwealth University pursuing Broadcast Journalism. He was an active student who got several internship opportunities that prepared him for the person he would become in the future. He also served as an anchor and producer at the student-run broadcast VCU Insight.
After graduation, Wanya got an employment opportunity at 13WMAZ as an anchor. After 2 years, he got promoted to weekend anchor and later to a morning show anchor in June 2021.
His time as an anchor has been exciting. He has covered stories of resilience like Tre Lawson, who walks across the stage for the first time after a car accident that paralyzed him from the waist down. Wanya has also covered the story of Police Offer Eddrica Gray who helps students stay on track by playing as their mentor.
When Wanya is not working, he is spending time with his friend or tasting food in the restaurants around Macon. He also loves traveling.
