Heather Monahan is an American speaker and a best-selling author. Prior to her career, Heather was a Chief Revenue Officer at Beasley Media Group. In 2017, she founded her company called Boss in Heels.

Heather was born on 14th August 1974  in a poor family of three siblings and a single mother living in Massachusetts. The situation in her home taught her that working hard and hustling is the only way to escape poverty. The drive to escape poverty became a motivating factor for the success she had in the future. Like many people, she chose education as her route to escape poverty and meet success. She went to Clark University where she pursued a degree in Psychology.

In 2008, Heather got into a relationship that led to marriage, The marriage was blessed with a child called Dylan. The marriage, however, began to fall apart after one year. Instead of living in an environment that did not foster growth, Heather filed for a divorce. The divorce, however, was painful than she thought because she left the marriage with nothing. Fourteen years now after the divorce, Heather is yet to find a mate. She confessed that is actively dating. Heather has also established a good relationship with her ex-husband for the sake of their child.

Heather had to plan how to take care of her son’s college and also herself. Heather’s ex-husband remarried and had other children. In an interview with Michelle Dempsey-Multack, Heather describes that she occasionally becomes envious of her ex-husband’s life because it turned out better for him since he has a wife, children, dogs, and a bigger home while she spends most of the time alone when Dylan is with his father. However, she overcomes these negative thoughts by maintaining a positive attitude, which she cultivated throughout her life.

Monahan started earning from a young age. She started working in Wilks Broadcasting as an Equity Partner. Her experience there was successful as she led the acquisition of a $25m radio group and sold it at $55m in less than three years. In 2003, she started working for Beasley Media Group, a leading radio broadcaster in the United with 53 stations and a customer base of 7.7 million listeners.

She joined as the Director of Sales in 2003 and later got promoted in 2004 to the Vice President position where her responsibilities were improving the revenue of the company and managing the development of the sales team. In 2007, she became the Executive vice president, a position she occupied for 8 years. In January 2015, Heather became the Chief Revenue Officer who oversaw all sales of the company. Working for Beasley turned against her as she was fired two months after being named one of the most influential women in radio.

After leaving Beasley, Heather went straight to writing a book as she thought was the best strategy to resume back to making money. Although the book became a success, Heather looks back and realized she could have started her company Boss on Heels earlier than becoming an author.  She is a firm believe in starting a business over working in corporate America as a 9 to 5 employee.

When Boss on Heels started in 2017, it became successful almost immediately. Her roles were speaking at events, consulting, and executive coaching. In December 2019, Heather delivered a 10-minute personal and spirit talk that was translated into six languages and promoted to TED.

Her success story has made her a frequent guest on USA Today, CNN, Fast Company, and Forbes. She also runs her podcast called Creating Confidence and has featured guests such as Ryan Serhant, Kaitlyn Bristowe, Sara Blakely, and other public figures. In 2020, Real Leader recognized her work and named her among the Top 40 Female Keynote Speakers.

Heather is also a two-time best seller on Amazon as her first book Confidence Creator hit the top position in the Business Biographies and Business Motivation. Her second book Overcome Your Villains was at the top spot on Amazon’s Workplace Culture.

Monahan attributes her success to faith, trial, and error, and having a positive mindset. Every rejection and failure she experienced in her life was a stepping stone to what she would become in the future. Now, she is a force to be reckoned with. She is a regular guest on big shows like Dr. Phil, Hustle and Habits with Jennifer Cohen, and Innovation City. Recently she met with John C Maxwell one of the great leaders of our time.

Like many other modern speakers, she has leveraged the power of social media to reach the younger generation and market her podcast, books and speaking sessions. She creates short motivational videos on Instagram where she has close to 800k followers.
