This behavior became an addiction and a way to repress her shame, guilt, and pain.

When she was in rehab, she was instructed to process these emotions once again and create a new positive narrative from her story.

Irene embarked on a new journey, she revisited her childhood memories and embraced the shame that came with it. By embracing them, her self-esteem rose and a new identity was born. She felt healthier spiritually and mentally because she had released all her childhood baggage.

Rising from the shame of addiction and childhood trauma and rebuilding her marriage from the brink of separation to stability created a desire within Irene to teach and preach healthy marriage.
