After 2 years, Joel was promoted to a weekend multimedia journalist whose responsibility was doing interviews, writing and editing stories, and creating engaging content in social media. He also did production jobs by helping in gathering stories.
He got the job at KXXV in 2019 first as an MMJ and later as an anchor and producer. The former job involved conducting interviews with community members to establish the presence of the station in the community and creating content on social media and engaging with viewers. In the latter role, Lopez gathered local and national news to create engaging and accurate news. He also worked on the weekends as an anchor.
