She was born on 3rd February 1967. Her upbringing was like most Canadians. At age 9, her family life changed drastically when her father died from a heart attack. Pattie looked on as her mother struggled to meet the needs of the family. Since then, she became conscious of money. At age 15, Pattie started working as a babysitter and helping with household financial needs where she could.

Her own relationships have been victims of twists and turn. She has been in two marriages. Pattie got divorced from her first husband after they could not agree on marital matters. Pattie ended up like her mother, struggling to take care of her two young children. Her life changed for the better when she met her current husband, Jim Reid. They ended up settling in a marriage that now has 4 children.

At 15 years old, Pattie was conscious about money but her way in finances kicked off when she became a teller at the Bank of Montreal. Unlike most financial gurus, Lovett-Reid never went for university studies. As a teller, she met the Human Resource Manager of TD Bank who gave her an opportunity to enter the company’s management program.

In 1981, she got hired permanently a TD Bank. At TD Bank, Pattie equipped herself with knowledge and skills that quickly increased her ranking in the bank. She did an executive education program at Queen’s University and CFP Designation with the Financial Planning Standards Council.

Lovett also learned on herself about mortgages, mutual funds, and wealth management. She left the bank as the Senior Vice President after serving for 31 years and a recipient of Honorary degrees from Humber College, the Financial Planning Standard Council, and Canadore College.

With 30 years of experience in money matters, Lovett-Reid started The Pattie Lovett-Reid Show on CTV News Channel where she was the Sr, Financial Commentator. For 1 year, she talked about the market, economy, and personal finance. Seeing her expertise and influence, CTV headquarters in Toronto offered her an opportunity as a chief financial commentator.

She worked there for close to a decade until she got an opportunity at HomeEquity Bank as the Chief Financial Commentator in charge of discussing current trends, writing blogs, and commenting on topics such as budgeting, demographic trends, and aging.
