Ruth Chou Simons Biography
Most people think preaching, teaching, or being on the pulpit is the only form of serving God. But God is bigger. He takes many forms and people can worship Him in a variety of ways. Ruth Chou Simons is using fine art to serve God. Using it did not make sense in the beginning because she was like most traditional Christians. With her new understanding of God, she is sharing the word of Christ through her talent, which has now become an international business. She is also a wall street best-selling author, speaker, and podcaster.

Ruth identifies as Chinese American. She was born on 5th October 1975 in Taiwan. Her family relocated to the United States when she was 4 years old. Unlike many Asians, Ruth’s family was exposed to the gospel.
Despite being familiar with Christianity, Ruth’s mother was lukewarm and her father was an unbeliever. The trajectory of their family changed when her parents decided to be serious with God. They matured as believers to the point of becoming church leaders.
The desire to serve God also sunk deep in Ruth. She married Troy Simons a pastor and a church planter. Their family got blessed with 6 boys, the oldest being 21 years old. As of 2023, the two have been together for 24 years.
Testimony and Theology
Like many Asians, Ruth was pressed by her parents and peers to pursue the best careers and perform to the level best in her studies. The desire to live this dream led her to pursue Biochemistry in college. After some time, she realized her passion was elsewhere.
In an attempt to find satisfaction, she switched her major to fine arts and like her previous major she never found satisfaction. Something was wrong.
Ruth had associated satisfaction with achievement. Every time, she found herself in a hamster wheel, succeeding and never finding satisfaction. She never understood the message of the gospel despite professing to be a Christian.
In 8th grade, Ruth gave her life to Christ and got baptized. Although she lived like a Christian, she never understood what the love of Christ meant, until college.
Lacking satisfaction as a science and fine arts student, made her realize her satisfaction came from something else. Ultimately, she made a decision to be serious about pursuing Jesus. This was where her heart wanted to be.
After her marriage to Troy, Ruth spent most of her young motherhood season as a full-time mother. When her husband was busy on the pulpit serving God, the idea of serving God with her fine arts skills and writing was birthed.
Initially, she had separated arts from the gospel but she got a revelation of ways to merge it. And she merged them as it had been revealed. She named her new form of serving God GraceLaced. She started dedicating time to create content for her website and microblogging on her Instagram.
Soon, her content began going viral. The pictures on Instagram traveled through the internet, reaching many people who started making requests for the photos. Her passion for doing fine arts birthed an international business. She hired several women who help her in creating content and post regularly on Instagram and on the website.
In her desire to serve God more, Ruth started a podcast, GraceLaced Podcast, which she co-hosts with Eve Stipes. They speak about matters about the Gospel and how to live the Christian life regardless of race and background.
