Career
Switching from studentship to her career was organic, Garrison was more than ready to do what she desired most. She started at MTV production where she was part of the casting team tasked with casting production individuals for Teen Wolf. Dejonique prepared, hiring paperwork and organized talent.
At that time she was working part-time at Comcast as a reporter and Anchor where she trained new employees’ production techniques and also served as a director. After one year, she joined Bunim Murray Productions as a production assistant training screen semifinalists before they could meet with directors and assisted directors in the pre-production of MTVs 27th Season of The Real World.
She joined television in September 2013 as a production assistant in WGXA. Here she learned writing and on-air skills. The skills came naturally for Garrisons as she was familiar with the screen. She decided to venture deeply into journalism thereafter.
In 2015, Garrison joined WFXG as a multimedia journalist who produced live shots and created engaging website and social media content. After two years, she joined KBMT/K-JAC 12 News anchoring news at 5, 6, and 10 pm.
Besides being an actor, she assisted reporters in story development and building partnerships between stakeholders and the station. In January 2022, she announced she would be joining KIAH TV as a digital journalist.
