Iyani Lenice Biography

The TV and News industry is changing, especially for women. The standard of TV beauty has been expanding from traditional standards to modern ones. Now, women, especially those of color are embracing weaves and kinky and curly hairs. Iyani Lenice Hughes is popular for appearing on camera with curly and braided hair. She works for CBS46 as a digital news producer and content creator. She also runs a business called 22 NaturOils. the reporter is the founder of an organization called Curly Girls On-Air, which celebrates women of color.

She was born on 19th October 1992 in Chelsea, Alaska. Iyani values Christian principles in her life having been raised in a Christian background. She has a close relationship with her parents and her siblings.

Iyani is also engaged to her longtime boyfriend David Ruffin who runs Coal World Hookah and hosts a podcast called Insufficient Funds. The two have a child called Jaire Lamar Paden. After graduating, she traveled to London where she started her journalism career. Upon returning to America, she did freelance work as a reporter and writer. She got her first employment at WTVY News as a reporter, MMJ, and fill-in anchor. Later, she got an opportunity at CBS 46 as a digital news reporter and content producer.

The question about her hair first popped up when she was in college. Curly hair was regarded as unprofessional but Iyani still got employed. She also got her second employment while rocking her curly hair.

It gave her the confidence to start Curly Girls On-Air to show appreciation to black and brown girls with curly hair. As a reaction to her passion for curly hair, she co-founded 22 NaturOils Custom Oil Blends, skin products for men and women of all colors.

In 2020, Iyani was a victim of an attempted kidnapping while she was on the field doing a report. A woman running from an accident ran to Iyani’s reporting van, jumped into the driver’s seat, and started driving. The vehicle did not go for long. It crashed, leaving Iyani terrified but unharmed. The woman got out and fled but police caught up with her.

Outside Work, Salary, and Height

Outside work, Iyani loves to spend time with her family. She also contributes to the community through CGOA. In 2022, she was named a Black Girls in Media official influencer during the first annual conference.

On matters concerning money, she is doing well earning an annual salary of approximately $60,000 per year. She is also considerably short in stature. Her height is 5 feet and 3 inches tall.
