She was born into a celebrity family as her mother, Ellen Ector, is a fitness celebrity, and her brother, Robert Ector, is a celebrity photographer. Lana’s passion for fitness started with her mother Ellen who was discouraged when she saw an overweight photo of herself when she was 40 years old. Lana Ector and her mother have helped thousands of women regain their confidence and self-esteem by helping them to achieve their body goals. They also started the hashtag #blackgirlsworkoutoo to encourage black women to embrace healthy living and working out culture in their personal lives.

Lana Ector, her mother, and daughter co-wrote a vegan book called Black Girls Gone Vegan, after they were convinced that meat led to increased weight and high risks of high blood pressure. The three gym enthusiasts favor veganism because of the positive effects it has on the skin, blood pressure, and boosting the immune system.

Lana has been able to create a brand in herself, which encourages people to get involved in physical exercise and live a healthy life. Despite achieving an admirable body figure, Lana has continued putting in the effort and consistency in working out and reaching more black women. She also participates in creating fitness apparel and resources for women active in exercise. Lana’s mother has joined Chef Babette Davis who is also a 70-year-old active in physical exercise. Saman Munir has also maintained an active lifestyle despite being in her 40s.
