Delisa, Erica, and Tina formed a group but before they started recording, Delisa quit to focus on college. Erica and Tina were left and together they formed the Gospel Duo Mary Mary which rocked the gospel scene in the early 2,000.
In matters related to marriage and getting a husband, Shanta confessed in a YouTube video the frustration she had when waiting for God to give her a husband. She later switched her heart to devoting her time to serving the purposes of God. At 37, Shanta is still single and content with her status.
The rest of the family backed up Mary Mary during their performance. As she was backing her sisters, Shanta also felt a calling to do music on her own. Initially, her passion was focused on doing mission work like her mother. Being passionate about the youth and seeing the mental challenges the young people went through, Shanta Atkins was compelled to do something. God started convicting her heart to produce music.
Soon, she started making music and just like her sisters, her music was widely accepted. Her music was more about reaching the hearts of people and building their mental capacity. Shanta Atkins has released powerful songs like Made up My Mind, Bow Down, God Sees You and in 2023 she released an impactful album called Follow Jesus.

The gospel start offsets this argument by focusing on the mission that God gave her, which is doing mission work through her own organization Melodies for Missions.
